Why I teach

It’s funny, every day is exhausting. You try to get students to learn something while balancing different levels, and they think they will never get it. Students are struggling with focus, understanding, their own family issues, and friends. While you are pushing your own issues of these things down to be there for your students. Then, when you are down and struggling as it has been a long week you get this:

This. Text from a former student. I was thinking about you the other day when someone asked me about why I was interested in cs. And you are the first thing that pops up in my head because you are the first one to expose me to the field. The most awesome thing is about your class was more so you taught me I can do anything. Now I’m officially a software engineer (a career I didn’t even believe I could do before) and i just wanted to say thank you so much for everything. There are not many black women devs at the company but SURE FEELS GOOD TO REPRESENT. HOPE EVERYTHING IS SO WELL!! just wanted to share :)

Empowering minds to shape the future. Representation in CS matters
