I forgot how much walking I do at ISTE every four years when it is in Philadelphia. I have been going since 2007. The place is huge and information overload happens. But so far I have:
- Learned about eSports: Starting up and the Garden State League
- Met another 2-8 CS teacher (Hi @hoyasined)
- Caught up with old friends (Hi Jen, Karen, Kathy, and Sherri)
- Learned about Looker from Google (Thanks James from KY). This is a way to make great infographics and reports of data. Umm. Hello, the best thing I need to explore.
- Went to Microbit Workshop to see how the data works on V2. Hello DATA and Spreadsheets.
- Met Cool Makers from Cedar Falls who have great Maker Challenges.
- Sat with BENQ to get answers on how the boards work on items I couldn’t figure out when I was playing. I can’t wait to bring that back to the classroom.
- Talked to code combat reps.
- And Volunteered in ISTE Central Book Store and at the Poster Sessions. I got to talk to a ton of people that way. And learn about what they do and how they manage technology in their schools
This has only been two days and only 10 hours in total. Tomorrow I get to introduce a friend to ISTE Expo hall. I can’t wait. I forget how energized I get, how much information I learn about, how many people there are to interact with, and the SWAG. I got new stickers for my chrome book.
I am exhausted from the 5 miles walked within the conference today, and energized to go through all of this information and use it in my classrooms and workshops.
